Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has outperformed his teammate at each of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the title advantage from Piastri by one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Until that point, Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the championship fight, trailing 36 points behind Norris, ended up in 17th position as his team followed a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, though minor, when he rotated at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda lost control over the track edges before spinning across the escape zone, and was blessed to escape with just a light touch of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the final moments of the practice, rotating twice through the quick descending corner approaching the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton finished practice in P19, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber P3, over half a second off Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
